Guido Albertengo was born in Turin, Italy, on September 9, 1956.

He received the Electronic Engineering Degree from Politecnico di Torino in December 1980, “summa cum laude”, with a thesis on the implementation of a digital 9600 bps MODEM fully implemented in software on a 8 bit microprocessor.

From June 1981 until May 1983 he was with Tasco S.p.A., a small private company operating in the field of image processing for industrial applications.

In June 1983, he joined the staff of the Electronics Department of Politecnico di Torino as a researcher.

In 1990 he was appointed head of the research group in his department cooperating with the Italian Council for Research (C.N.R.) in the “National Telecommunication Project”. In the three following years his group developed an experimental high-speed packet switched communication network using deflection routing.

Since 1991, he is an associate professor with the Electronics Department of Politecnico di Torino.

From 1998 till 2002 he acted as Scientific Committee Member of CNIT, a Consortium of Universities working in the Telecommunications field.

From 2000 till 2002 he was Chief Scientist of a CNIT research project with the Italian Space Agency (ASI) involving some 15 researchers from Politecnico di Torino, and the Universities of Catania, Florence, and Genoa, and aimed at the implementation of a real time simulator of satellite communication systems.

Thereafter, he worked on network architectures for providing advanced services, such a QoS-based routing, message relaying and mobility support. Later he focused on Wireless Sensor Networks, designing some custom protocols for energy-efficient, guaranteed bandwidth WSN.

Since 2010 he is also acting a supervisor of the H2politO student’s team, following all the team activities related to on-board telematica.
