Ana Paula Couto da Silva earned her PhD in Computer and System Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2006. She was with IRISA-Rennes, France, in 2005 and 2007, and with Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 2008 (with a PostDoc position). In 2010 and 2011 (January and February), she was visiting researcher at Politecnico di Torino. She is now an assistant professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Her areas of interest are in the fields of modeling and analysis of computer systems, P2P application analysis, complex network theory applied to Computer Networking, modeling of new techniques for providing energy efficient networking and characterization of Internet Traffic.
