Miquel Garrich was born in Capellades (Barcelona, Spain) on June 29, 1982. He received the telecommunications engineering degree from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain, in October 2009 and the Ph.D. degree from Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in February 2013.
From July 2011 to April 2012 he was Academic Visitor at the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, University of Essex, UK.
He worked for three years (2013-2016) as senior researcher in the optical systems division at CPqD foundation, Campinas, Brazil. He coordinated several R&D activities in CPqD’s Optical Networks team including ROADMs and optical amplifiers. He has co-authored more than 30 technical-scientific papers and his research interests include switching interconnection architectures, optical technology and high performance optical networks.
He is currently currently back at Politecnico di Torino under a one-year visiting professor scheme.
